Sami Glascott, Owner, Lead Instructor and Wellness Advisor
For over twenty years, I have had the fortunate experiences of working in geology, project management, environmental consulting, public administration, financial advisory, nonprofit management, and executive level corporate management. Most recently I served as the President/CEO of the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, Alaska’s largest business organization and as General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of Northern Air Cargo.
Simultaneous to developing my career, I started practicing yoga in 2006 just after my only child was born and earned teaching credentials throughout the years. I have also discovered standup paddleboarding and standup paddleboard yoga as an adventurous outdoor compliment to my yoga practice.
As my practice evolved, I found yoga to be invaluable in managing my home life and family’s health. Between meeting expectations at work, scheduling drop-offs and pick-ups for after school programs, squeezing in health appointments, preparing taxes, paying bills, planning vacations and summer camps, etc., prioritizing my yoga practice softened the corners on the hard edges of my daily schedule. We learn from various media sources everyday what we should do to improve our health. A regular yoga practice helps to reinforce the positive lessons with regards to nutrition, self-care, interacting with others, time management, etc.
Practicing yoga also changed the way that I performed in my career. Practicing regularly offered me the benefits of showing up to work feeling healthy, strong, confident, positive and energetic and it kept me centered and tempered to the daily ups and downs of work life. The more I practiced yoga the less overwhelmed I felt by work. Yoga helped me see the impossible as possible.
Passions: traveling abroad, writing, taking photos, exploring new trails, being outside, eating well, shopping at farmer's markets, and being active through hiking, skate skiing, biking, running, paddling, yoga and simply being the best mom I can be.
Issues: advocating for and creating healthy environments
